How Often Should You Change
Your Motorcycle Oil?
Oil change intervals depend on riding conditions, bike type, and oil quality, but here’s a general guideline:
🏍️ Harley-Davidson & V-Twin Bikes: Every 3,000 - 5,000 miles
🏍️ Sport Bikes & High-Performance Motorcycles: Every 2,500 - 4,000 miles
🏍️ Older & Classic Bikes: Every 2,000 - 3,000 miles
Riding in extreme heat, stop-and-go traffic, or high speeds? You may need more frequent oil changes to prevent engine wear and overheating.
Signs You Need
an Oil Change...
⚠️ Dark, Dirty, or Thick Oil – Fresh oil should be golden brown, not black or gritty.
⚠️ Increased Engine Noise – Ticking or knocking sounds may indicate low or dirty oil.
⚠️ Overheating Engine – If your engine is running hotter than usual, your oil may not be lubricating properly.
⚠️ Sluggish Performance – Dirty oil can cause power loss and sluggish acceleration.
⚠️ Burning Oil Smell – A strong oil odor while riding may signal low oil levels or an oil leak.
