However, now with technology that allows for more power without the penalty of equivalent consumption, manufacturers have begun pushing the envelope again. Sure, there is something to be said about the high-revving joy of a sports bike engine, but the torque of a big engine loping away beneath you is something to behold when the taps are opened. On that note, here are the ten biggest production motorcycle engines available in 2025.
To ensure accuracy, the information compiled in this article was sourced from the respective manufacturers, as well as other authoritative sources. We’ve ordered them from smallest to largest displacement to give the list some order. If there are identical displacements, we’ve ordered them by power output.

Honda’s flat six engine is one of the automotive world’s engineering marvels. It remains the only horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine in all of two-wheeler land, and the technology it packs would put some car flat sixes to shame. Honda has reduced the Gold Wing engine’s overall width by using its Unicam SOHC design to operate double overhead cams for each cylinder’s four valves. It has a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox paired to it. No matter whether you get the automatic or the manual, you get a ‘creep’ function to help you maneuver it in a parking lot. It even gets an IMU and ride modes to help you have a safer ride!
The Pursuit isn’t cheap, at a couple of thousand under $40,000, but it is the most modern of the Indian tourers. It was the first to get the liquid-cooled PowerPlus engine, and it can be had with either the PowerPlus 108 or PowerPlus 112. Get the bigger one, and only the two most powerful Harley tourers will outdo its power figure. You get a lovely 7-inch touchscreen, but we’re not sure that a product as premium as the Pursuit should have features like cornering ABS and cornering traction control as a $3,000 option. The Premium Package will net you these as well as a heated seat, electronically adjustable rear suspension preload, and aux lights.
Engine Type | PowerPlus 112 60 degree V-twin, liquid cooled, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder |
Displacement | 1,835 cc |
Max Power | 126 HP @ 5,500 RPM |
Max Torque | 133 LB-FT @ 3,600 RPM |
Price | $37,999 |

The Road King Special follows the tracks of the Springfield. It has lovely retro bagger styling, but unlike the Springfield there is no chrome option. There is only the option of a blacked-out engine and exhaust, although the alloy wheels that look like spoke rims are a great touch. The Road King Special is powered by the Milwaukee-Eight 114, with fuel injection and liquid-cooled cylinder heads. Also on the options list is a host of safety features, including cornering ABS with linked brakes, cornering traction control, cornering drag-torque slip control, hill hold assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Harley-Davidson’s newest model is a firebreathing tourer that isn’t really a tourer. That ‘RR’ in the CVO Road Glide RR is a serious thing, because this is as close as you’ll ever get to the actual racing entry in the King Of The Baggers. The Screamin’ Eagle 131 ci is such a serious piece of kit, it just took the largest production motorcycle V-twin crown away from the Kawasaki Vulcan VN2000, which has had it for 15 years! Oh, did we mention that you get a race intake, racing camshafts, Stage IV ported cylinders, a full titanium Akrapovič exhaust with carbon tips, and a billet clutch basket?

The original Rocket 3 took the crown of largest production motorcycle engine away from the Kawasaki Vulcan VN2000 way back and it has held the crown since then. Now in its second generation, it has increased displacement and output, and reduced weight. It is kept under control by an electronics suite to rival a superbike, with a six-axis IMU. The biggest surprise, however, might be its price. It might not have all the creature comforts of the full-dress tourers here, but with a price of just over half their retail, but with a bigger engine and a superbike-rivaling power output, it seems like a steal!
